Private Practice

Conrad Shafer late of Frederick County yeoman otherwise called Conrad Shafer of Frederick County and State of Maryland was summoned to answer unto Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior in a plea that he render unto them the sum of one hundred pounds current money which to them he owes and from them he unjustly detains and soforth and Whereupon the said Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior by R B Taney their attorney say that whereas the said Conrad Shff Shafer on the sixteenth day of April eighteen hundred and two at Frederick County aforesaid by his certain writing obligatory acknowledged him self to be held and firmly bound unto them the said Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior in the aforesaid sum of one hundred pounds current money of Maryland to be paid to them the said Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior when afterwards he should be should be thereunto required Nevertheless the said Conrad Shafer although often thereunto required the said sum of one hundred pounds current money or any part thereof or the value to them the said Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior hath not rendered or paid but the same sum of money or any part thereof2 or the value thereof to them the said Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior hitherto to render or pay he hath altogether refused and still doth refuse wherefore the said Christian Neff Senior and Christian Neff Junior say they are the worse and have damage to the value of five hundred pounds current money of Maryland and therefore they bring suit and soforth and bring here in to court the writing obligatory aforesaid sealed with the seal of the aforesaid Conrad Shafer which testifies the debt aforesaid in form aforesaid the state whereof is the day and year aforesaid and so forth
