Washington May 19. 1860My Dear Sir

I should have sent you the photographs for you and William some days ago; – but during all this week my house has been in some confusion with workmen in it, introducing water from the public works: – and in addition to that we have been going through the usual & not very pleasant operation of the Spring – that is, taking up Carpets & putting down matting. To day however has been totally quiet – and Ellen has carefully put up the photographs in a box, which I have directed to you – Union Bank of Maryland. I have so directed it because your office is there & I suppose will more certainly reach you – I do not send the box2 today – because it would lie over tomorrow – But I shall send it to the Express office in the forenoon of Monday – & presume it will reach you on Tuesday – Send William the one for him – Let me know what you think of it –

ever truly your friendR. B. Taney
