Family Residences (Taney Family) Contracts Family Finances (Taney Family)
Washington March 12. 1832 My Dear Sir

I inclose you a letter I received today from Mr. Donaldson – & I have in reply referred him to you, saying that I had intended to sell this spring but the great & unusual pressure on the money market has induced me to doubt whether I had not best rent for another year & that I should be governed by your opinion. What do you think of the times in this respect? I hear a great Deal of commercial distress & embarrassment & of the scarcity of money & suppose that property will not on that account sell to advantage. – You are however a far better judge than I am and will I hope decide for me –

I hear that Williamson has kept his cow in my garden. Had I not as well sue him2 as Soon as his time is out? A man who converts a Garden into a Cow yard ought to rent a stable to live in, as it would be more suitable to his taste & habits than such a house as mine –

With best wishes my Dear Sir / I am truly your friend R. B. Taney

I have drawn on Williamson to day at one days sight for the rent due Feby February 14th $200 – in favour of R. Mickle’s Cashr.==Cashier
