4. To the honourable Samuel Chase, Judge of the Orphans Court for the County of Washington, and District of Columbia.

The Petition of John Quincy Adams, of Quincy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but now commorant at said Washington, humbly represents.

That on the 23d. of October last, the Petitioner’s Son, John Adams, laid of said Washington died there, intestate, leaving a widow and two infant female children, and also goods, Chattels, and other personal Estate, debts and credits to be administered upon according to Law.

Your Petitioner, therefore, with the assent and at the desire of the said widow, prays that Letters of Administration upon the Estate of the said John Adams, and of Guardianship of his said two children, Mary Louisa, and Georgiana Frances Adams both infants under fourteen years of age, may be granted to him

And the Petitioner as in duty bound will pray
