Petitions, Memorials and Resolutions.

Clay from the Committee on public Lands, moves to make the Bill to provide for the reduction and graduation of public Lands the special order of the day, for the first Monday in January and that the Bill and report be printed.

Clayton moves the printing of 5000 extra copies of the report.

Gilmer from the Committee on Indian Affairs moves that the bill for the Establishment of the Western Territory, and about the Indian emigrants, be made the special order of the day, for the first Tuesday in January—and the bill and amendments to be printed.

Hubbard of N.H. moves a call on the Secretary of the Treasury for the correspondence between him and the President of the U.S. Bank, concerning the Branch Drafts, and the claim of the Bank for damages on the protested Bill of Exchange on France.

C. P. White of New-York moves that the Committee of Ways and Means be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by Law for the establishment of a branch of the U. S. Mint at N. York. Dunlap of Tennessee moves that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of establishing a third judicial District in Tennessee, and of requiring the Judge of the District of East and West Tennessee, to hold one or more terms of said Court annually at the town of Jackson in said State.

Foster. T. F. of Georgia moves a call on P.U.S. for correspondence with the French Government, upon their refusal to provide for the execution of the Treaty of 4. July 1831.

Jarvis Leonard of Maine moves an enquiry by the Committee of Commerce, into the expediency of providing for a new registry enrollment and licensing of U.S. vessels.

Balloting for election of a Chaplain on the part of this House Four ballots— Polk nominates the Revd. Mr Copp— Wardwell of New-York nominates the Revd. Edward Smith— Several other nominations— Copp has 52— 55— 59 and 60 votes. Smith has 32— 39— 59— 99 votes and is elected.
