Trials in the State of New-York of persons, charged with participation in the Morgan Murder Crimes.

1827. 1 Jany 1827.

Indicted Novr. 1826 at Canandaigua Ontario County upon two Indictments— 1. for a conspiracy to seize Morgan, and carry him from thence to foreign parts, and secrete and confine him there. 2. For carrying said conspiracy afterwards into Execution.

Cheseboro, Lawson and Sawyer, after pleading not guilty, withdrew the plea, and pleaded guilty— Sheldon was convicted, but afterwards made affidavit that he was not guilty, and that his previous confessions had been done in the way of romance, and from amusement only.— Henry Brown 74–88.
