th.May 1847—
- White
Mr.
White of Philadelphia son of the late Bishop White, paid me a morning visit—
I rode this morning to the Navy Yard, stopping at Miss Casey’s lodgings, to return some
English Newspapers which she had lent me— I took a short walk in the
afternoon, but finding it from day to day, more difficult to walk, fear
that I must henceforth, confine all my bodily exercise, to riding in a
carriage. I answered the Letter of Mr. Ellis of Dedham— We
commenced in the evening, reading the Life of Johnson.
