Barnard with a subscription for a Polyglott Bible— Mr Luckett with a Mr Howland of Loudoun County, Virginia— Mr Hemphill with a judge Reed, and Mr Hall of Pennsylvania. Daniel Davis to take leave, going to-morrow Morning for Boston— T. Fuller here, and Coll R. M. Johnson, who wishes further concert against the Caucus party. 89Fuller is for moderation and tranquility— G. Sullivan, brought draft of a Letter to Secy War on the Claim— At the Office— Nevin with a Letter from Lot Clark member from New-York—wanted a Book. Dodge with a Letter of enquiries, about Consular fees— Joaquin Barrozo Pereira, Portuguese Charge d’Affaires brought a credential Letter from the Marquis of Palmella, and desired to be presented in that capacity to the President— Call at the President’s. Will receive Pereira to-morrow. Told me he would send in the nomination of N. Edwards as Minister to Mexico to-morrow— Wyer at the Office— Tuesday Evening party at my house— Very crowded. Mrs Adams ill—not able to attend— Southard spoke to me of the affair between Rodney and Biddle— Sullivan left with me his draft of a Letter to the Secy of War on the claim.
