Heard Bedell of Philadelphia, from Ezekiel 37.3— [“]And he said unto me, Son of Man, can these bones live? and I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.”— An emphatic, and eloquent, but illiberal and bigoted discourse— In two divisions—first a type of the condition of the Jewish Nation at the time of the prophesy— Secondly a type of the condition of the world at this time—with an episode of invective upon the unitarian heresy. Mr and Mrs FryeW. S. Smith, and Eugene and Aaron Vail came as visitors.

Afternoon at Dr Balch’s Church at Georgetown— Reunion of the Sunday Schools, 15 in number; near 800 children of each Sex— Second annual Report read— Prayer by Dr Laurie. Sermon by Dr Staughton, from Galatians 6.9. “And let us not be weary in well-doing; for in due Season we shall reap if we faint not.”— Address by Mr Bedell— Told the Story of Moses saved by Thermutis, and uttered a philippic against the unholy league— Psalm read by Mr Baker—dismissing benediction by Dr. Balch— Church crowded—past six when I came home. Mrs Sullivan dined with us— Mr Sullivan and Elizabeth C. Adams went this morning to Baltimore. I read Colman’s Sermons 5 and 6. on the miraculous character of Jesus and that Christianity is a divine communication— His doctrine seems to be Arianism—
