12. VI: Soon after rising this Morning, I found that Mr Gallatin’s Post-horses were at his Carriage in the yard— I went into his chamber and took leave of him— He went off at eight O’Clock and goes directly to Geneva— I found Mr Meulemeester with him in his chamber—he had called also to take leave. I received two letters from my wife, one of them enclosing a letter from my Mother, dated 29. August, and one for Mr Smith from his father— I had also received yesterday two Letters from Mr: Harris, which I answered this Evening— Dined at the Table d’hote where there were only four other persons, and passed the latter part of the Evening at Mrs Smith’s, where I met Madame Marouques and her Daughter— Mr Smith was at the Ball.
