Walk in the mall before breakfast.— Day at my office— Resumed the reading of Park on insurance, which has been interrupted by the Session of the Supreme Court— In the afternoon I called at Dr: Jackson’s to make some experiments but he was not there— Walk again before evening, in the mall— Qualified as Commissioner in the case of Roylance Child—with Messrs: Tudor and Callender— Read in the evening a few pages in Locke (the chapter of power) but from hoarseness was obliged to desist— Mr: Shaw called on me this afternoon, and I went for him to the probate-Office10th: of May appointed for Mr: Shaw the Admr: to account— The clerk in the probate-office mentioned to me that a young Man by the name of Rockwood, now at Harvard College, and to graduate next summer, wishes to be received as a student in my office.
