15. Weather moderated at length.— Visit to Madame de Gaudi, the grande maitresse of the Queen mother— She is ill, and did not see us.— To Madame de Sartoris, who was not at home.— At the supper party at Count Schulenburg’s where were an immense crowd of People— We stayed not long, but passed the rest of the Evening at Prince Ferdinand’s— Had some conversation with General Tempelhoff, and Major Wortenberg.— Whist with the Comte Redern, Comte Bronikowki and Mr: Helbig.— The second is a Pole recently from Paris, who told us much of the manners and tone of Society prevailing there.— We came away before supper.
